Job Description:
Looking for the perfect blend of hands-on technical execution and strategic consulting? Look no further!  Our client is seeking a Systems Engineer with deep expertise in GIS and large-scale technology implementations for their Enterprise Architecture Practice Area. The right person will design, deploy, and optimize Esri ArcGIS environments, lead system modernization initiatives, and ensure high performance across complex infrastructures—both internally and with external clients. You’ll provide technical direction, problem-solving expertise, and help drive innovation at the intersection of technology and utilities.

Requirements:
– 8+ years of experience in system consulting and large-scale technology projects.
– 3+ years focused on enterprise GIS deploying, configuring, and supporting Esri ArcGIS products (Enterprise, Pro, and Online).
– Strong background in datacenter virtualization, hypervisors (VMware, Citrix, Hyper-V, Nutanix), and enterprise security best practices.
– Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, etc.).
– Skilled in system performance tuning, monitoring (ArcGIS Monitor, Dynatrace, SolarWinds), and load balancing solutions (F5, NGINX, Citrix ADC).
– BS Degree and active tech certification (i.e. TOGAF, Microsoft, VMware, Citrix, IBM, Oracle, or Esri) or ability to become certified/maintained within first year of employment.

Nice to have:
– Familiarity with the Esri Well Architected Framework (WAF) and how it applies to enterprise system projects involving GIS technologies.
– Esri Certifications 

Responsibilities:
– Configures, installs, upgrades, tests, and supports enterprise systems.
– Supports business development by contributing to Statements of Work (SOWs), proposals, and RFP/RFI/RFQ responses.
– Provides technical marketing support through blogs, presentations, and other public-facing activities.
– Modernizes and builds on-premise systems for both UDC and client environments.
– Acts as a subject matter expert on enterprise and GIS utility systems.
– Leads requirements workshops and defines proper system configurations.
– Develops detailed system specifications and documentation for both internal and external use.
– Troubleshoots and resolves issues related to performance, scalability, reliability, and system integration.
– Ensures systems meet requirements for automation, observability, and compatibility.
