Data Center Technician

Job Description:
Our top client supporting the Navy’s largest IT services contract, delivering the backbone of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) including network operations and data transport, is hiring a Data Center tech. In this role, you’ll work on-site in San Diego/Point Loma supporting a major infrastructure refresh – decommissioning legacy transport gear and installing and configuring new Cisco switches and routers in the lab environment engineers use for Navy mission planning. This is an exciting opportunity to get real data center experience directly supporting the Navy and Marine Corps warfighter mission!

Requirements:
• 6+ years of hands-on experience in data center operations including rack-and-stack, decommissioning, and installation of enterprise transport/network gear
• 3+ years of experience configuring Cisco switches and routers, cabling, and network configurations
• High school diploma or GED REQUIRED
• Active Secret Clearance REQUIRED
• CompTIA Security+ certification REQUIRED (IAT Level II)
• Ability to lift up-to 50 lbs. for hardware installation and maintenance

Nice to have:
• CCNA (Cisco), Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA), Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS), Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), and/or RedHat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certifications
• Experience working in a government or DoD environment, supporting mission-critical operations.
• B.S. degree

Responsibilities:
• Rack, stack, cable, troubleshoot, install, and configure computers, peripheral devices, and software to meet operational needs in a high-availability environment.
• Contribute to the lab’s high availability, accessibility, and sustainability efforts, supporting continuous operations.
• Perform cable management, including installation, documentation, planning, and tracking.
• Manage the shipping and receiving of hardware devices, ensuring proper inventory and asset tracking.
• Load basic configurations on end user devices, servers, network equipment, and storage equipment.
• Assist in deploying enterprise technologies, including cloud solutions, as directed by technical SME leads.
• Support asset management and configuration management activities, maintaining accurate records and -compliance.
• Collaborate with technical SME leads and other team members to prioritize and execute operational tasks in a fast-paced, time-critical environment.
