Role: Linux Systems Engineer
Location: 3 days (Tue-Thurs) onsite a week @ Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) – Huntsville, AL
Duration: 1 year contract to start (expectation of 6 year contract throughout program)
Rate: $88/Hr.
Target Spread: $960
Start Date: 6/2/2025
Interview Process: 1 technical video interview
One of our top clients, a large Government Integrator, is responsible for all telecommunications, cloud, data center, systems, and network services across all NASA centers and facilities in the U.S.! They’re looking to add to their Systems Engineering team within Cloud & Compute to support platforms, workstations, & operating systems for NASA scientists with ongoing lab work/experiments. This role will play a big piece in RHEL engineering solutions & Linux/VMWare administration across NASA, which offers a huge opportunity to make an immediate impact for a massive long-term government program!
U.S. Citizenship/Green Card Holder required, ACTIVE Public Trust clearance highly preferred
Requirements:
• 6+ years of professional Linux Engineering experience, including RedHat Linux Platform (RHEL)
• 3+ years of hands-on VMware and Vcenter administration for Virtual Machines
• Experience with Python, BASH, or Ansible for automation
• Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance (successfully pass a thorough Government background screening process including fingerprinting)
• B.S. Degree
Nice to have:
• RHEL/Linux Admin Certifications
• Extensive hands-on Ansible automation experience
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for installation, configuration, administration, support, and maintenance of RHEL systems, including associated hardware.
• Develop and maintain documentation related to the design, installation, administration, maintenance of multiple Linux systems in a distributed computing environment – including RHEL
• Ensure stability, viability, and maintenance of the 24/7 mission-critical production environment.
• Design, develop, and maintain process automation scripts and utilities written in BASH/Python and other programing languages as required.
• Provide guidance to systems administrators, network engineers/analysts on the configuration of server hardware and architectures to meet application and service requirements
• Administration on Virtual Machines – VMware and Vcenter specific
• Design and maintain a repeatable, documented patch deployment methodology for system administrators to implement.
• Diagnosis complex performance issues and facilitate recovery of failed systems in accordance with customer Service Level Agreements.
