Job Description:
This role will support one of our top clients within the energy & utilities industry! As a Sr. Controls Engineer in the Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) division, you’ll be part of a world-class engineering team tackling complex challenges at the forefront of grid modernization. This team supports high voltage equipment that help with the stability & transmission of power while improving grid reliability. This person will be part of building cutting-edge systems for STATCOMs, SVCs, and synchronous condensers—making a tangible impact on global energy infrastructure. From leading technical development and real-time simulation testing to engaging directly with customers and collaborating cross-functionally, this will be a dynamic environment for engineers who thrive on solving meaningful problems.

Requirements:
-5+ years of control engineering experience for power systems (Hardware focused)
-Designing, building, wiring, testing, and commissioning these electrical systems
-Developing the solutions including hardware specifications, logic diagrams, and schematics
-Experience with high voltage protection systems (Examples: synchronous condensers, rotating machines, power plants, or grid-connected equipment)
-Transmission or Distribution industry experience preferred: (Utility companies, GE, ABB, Hitachi, Siemens, or Mitsubishi)
-Bachelor’s Degree: Electrical engineering, computer or software engineering, or engineering

Nice to have:
-GE Vernova Mark Vle (system)
-PSCAD or ATP/EMTP (power system analysis tools)
-IEEE (standards & codes)
-Matlab

Responsibilities:
• Lead development of custom protection and control solutions, including coding, hardware specifications, logic diagrams and schematics
• Lead development and execution of test plans for real-time digital simulation (RTDS) testing of GE FACTS protection and control systems
• Conduct power system studies to support grid integration of GE Vernova’s FACTS solutions
• Be the lead contact liaison for technical issues for the customer and project manager
• Coordinate with sourcing and project team members on technical matters to meet project specifications, cost control and schedule objectives
• Interface with internal and external team members such as principal engineers, control engineers, civil engineers, electrical designers, project managers, engineering leaders and support organizations
• Lead the development of the controls scope for proposals, including writing and/or reviewing technical specifications, estimating design man-hours and materials, supporting sourcing for vendor quotations, directing designers and draftsmen on drawing requirements, and the development of clarifications and exceptions as well as technical responses
• Lead the development and execute cost reduction programs that vary in scope and may include low cost vendor selection, design improvements, process improvements, automation, and new product introduction
• Lead the performance of RCA’s (root cause analysis) and execution corrective actions
• Support project quality procedures and initiatives including aspects of ISO9001
