QMS Functional Lead

Job Description:
One of our top partners in the Aerospace & Defense industry is seeking a seasoned Functional Lead, Quality Systems to play a pivotal role in shaping and advancing the company’s enterprise Quality Management Systems (QMS). This role is central to their digital transformation, including the implementation and evolution of SAP S/4HANA, and will directly influence how quality processes are designed, delivered, and sustained across the enterprise. This leader will drive high-impact initiatives spanning system design, implementation, integration, and ongoing support. Partnering closely with the Quality organization, Digital Technology teams, third-party vendors, and global stakeholders, the Functional Manager will translate complex business and customer needs into innovative, scalable, and reliable digital solutions. Success in this role requires strong technical depth, strategic thinking, and the ability to lead cross-functional efforts that deliver measurable value—on time and within budget.

Requirements:
• 5+ years of functional SAP QM (Quality Management) experience in an enterprise environment.
o Experience in a customer facing role, gathering requirements, and designing functional/technical solutions.
• 3+ years of hands-on SAP QM configuration experience.
• Strong Understanding of SAP Quality Notifications including:
o Hands-on experience creating, managing, and processing quality issues in SAP (e.g., defect tracking, root cause analysis, corrective/preventive actions).
• Program debugging and troubleshooting expertise.
• Integration experience with quality and manufacturing systems (e.g., ETQ, MES)
• Strong experience authoring functional and technical specifications.

Nice to have:
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA implementations strongly preferred.

Responsibilities:
• Partner with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams to define and deliver Quality System enhancements that streamline processes and improve business outcomes.
• Lead functional strategy execution, managing key decisions, risks, actions, and dependencies across initiatives.
• Perform hands-on functional and technical problem solving for complex system challenges.
• Gather, document, and translate business requirements into detailed functional and technical specifications.
• Enable seamless integration between SAP Quality Management and other enterprise systems (e.g., ETQ, MES).
• Oversee and coordinate third-party suppliers to deliver high-performing, reliable Quality Management solutions.
• Develop and track metrics to measure solution performance, adoption, and business value.
• Ensure effective user training, system usability, and end-to-end business process integrity.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance, quality, and reliability.
• Lead or support projects using both Waterfall and/or Agile methodologies, ensuring adherence to gated approval and sign-off processes.
