Director Data Science

Job Description:
An Industry leader is looking for a Director of Data Science, who will report to the VP of Information Management and Analytics, leading the Data Science build team of 8 highly technical data scientists whose main goal is to productize data analytics and reporting as a shared service across HGV. This data science team is working on cutting edge offerings that will deploy self-service data science models, giving users the ability to analyze data without the support of a data scientist. In addition, this role will lead the creation and deployment of an insight generator tool that will provide analytics and insights for executives and users on the reporting they receive. This person needs to be a technical leader first, and a people leader second. They will be creating the technical strategy and vision as the capabilities of this data science team continues to expand and evolve

Requirements:
• 5+ years working as a data scientist in an enterprise environment (5,000+ employees) developing analytical models and prediction modeling
• 5+ years of experience building and maintaining a data science platform using Databricks, Python, and SQL
• Deep understanding of MLOps with ability to maintain production code and assets
• Must have worked on and led the strategy of data science initiatives that directly generate revenue (pricing optimization, churn reduction, customer lifetime value modeling, personalization strategies, etc.)
• Hands on experience overseeing the full lifecycle of machine learning models (strategy, development, deployment into production, and optimization)
• 2+ years of experience leading, mentoring, and managing other data scientists with hands on technical capability
• Ideal person would be a very technical lead on a data science team who is wanting an opportunity to advance their career into a Director Role

Nice to have:
• Understanding of the timeshare industry
• Experience in PowerBI, Cognos, or other BI tools

Responsibilities:
-Identify Revenue Opportunities: Seek out and capitalize on opportunities to generate revenue and enhance business efficiencies using advanced data science techniques
-Build and Maintain Data Science Platform: Lead the development and maintenance of an extensible data science platform using Databricks, Python, SQL, Databricks ML, OpenAI and other tools.
-Explore NLP and Generative BI: Investigate and implement NLP opportunities and generative BI solutions to support various business segments.
-Support Analytics Teams: Provide a feature store and technical support to other analytics teams within the organization.
-Engineer New Features: Rapidly develop and deploy new features to address business needs and improve data utilization.
-Train and Mentor: Train new data scientists and provide ongoing mentorship to enhance team capabilities.
-Drive New Analytics Projects: Initiate and lead new analytics projects, creating metrics that bridge operational analytics to financial impacts.
