Job Description:
Our client is undergoing a major transformation as they migrate a regulated export control application from the legacy corporate environment into their new dedicated platform. They are seeking a Database Administrator to help stabilize recently migrated data and ensure its accuracy, integrity, and usability across the organization. In this role, you will analyze usage across 70,000+ employees, generate meaningful utilization reports, write complex SQL queries (such as tracking employee file access), and manage bulk data updates and cleanup efforts. This position also offers a strong growth path into data engineering. As the team expands its roadmap, you’ll have opportunities to build data pipelines and also support the migration of enterprise databases into Amazon Redshift. Requirements:
• 5-8 years as a Database Administrator supporting, stabilizing, and optimizing enterprise database environments
o Experience working with multiple terabytes of data
• MySQL database experience including tables, objects, schemas, indexes, triggers, views events, performance tuning, and on call troubleshooting experience
• Advanced SQL skills for data management and operational needs such as reporting (ex: utilization reports), analytics, and bulk updates
o Must write complex queries from scratch, creating joins, and able optimize poorly performing queries
• Python Scripting Experience for sequential ETL tasks
• AWS Redshift experience and how to optimize the data warehouse for analytics and reporting
• Regulated Industry experience such as aerospace, healthcare, or government
Nice to have:
• Database migration experience
• Postgress DBA experience
• Data engineering experience – building pipelines in python
Responsibilities:
• Support, stabilize, and optimize enterprise-scale database environments, leveraging 5–8 years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator
• Manage and maintain large datasets, including environments operating with multiple terabytes of data
• Administer and enhance MySQL databases by creating and modifying tables, schemas, indexes, triggers, views, and events; perform performance tuning; and troubleshoot production issues, including on-call rotations
• Develop and maintain advanced SQL queries from scratch, including complex joins, analytical queries, and bulk data operations; identify and optimize poorly performing queries to improve system efficiency
• Build and execute sequential ETL processes using Python scripting to support data ingestion, transformation, and automation needs
• Work with AWS Redshift to optimize data warehouse structures, improve query performance, and support analytics and reporting use cases
• Operate effectively within regulated environments (e.g., aerospace, healthcare, government), ensuring compliance with data governance, security, and audit requirements
