Job Description:
Our client is seeking an expert-level Data Protection Specialist to lead the design, implementation, and operation of enterprise data protection and governance capabilities across Microsoft 365. You will serve as the technical authority for Microsoft Purview, ensuring the protection of sensitive healthcare data (e.g., PHI, PII) while enabling compliance, usability, and business productivity. Requirements:
• Expert-level Microsoft Purview experience (3+ years) designing, implementing, and operating Purview in a large enterprise environment, including deep hands-on expertise with Microsoft Information Protection (sensitivity labels, auto-labeling, encryption) and Data Loss Prevention across Microsoft 365 workloads.
• Proven experience deploying Microsoft security and compliance solutions, including Purview, Microsoft Defender, and Compliance Manager, to deliver integrated, end-to-end data protection across cloud and hybrid environments.
• Strong background in data protection and regulatory compliance, with demonstrated experience translating healthcare and privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA) into enforceable technical controls that support audit readiness and risk reduction.
• Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing stakeholders, with the ability to drive alignment and decision-making across Security, IT, Legal, Compliance, and business teams.
• Demonstrated ability to independently lead and execute enterprise initiatives, managing priorities and delivering end-to-end solutions from strategy and design through implementation and continuous optimization.

Nice to have:
• Experience with Data Security Posture Management for AI (DSPM/AI), including exposure to governing data used in AI/GenAI systems, risk identification, classification, and protection strategies.
• PowerShell and automation expertise to script and automate Purview configurations, reporting, and operational workflows to improve efficiency and scalability.

Responsibilities:
• Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing management of Microsoft Purview capabilities (MIP, DLP, Insider Risk, eDiscovery, and data lifecycle).
• Define and deploy sensitivity labels, encryption, and data protection controls across Microsoft 365.
• Establish and maintain enterprise data classification and governance aligned to healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
• Translate compliance requirements into technical controls in partnership with Legal and Compliance.
• Manage data protection incidents, including DLP alerts, insider risk cases, and audit investigations.
• Drive integration, automation, and adoption of data protection practices across Microsoft 365 and cross-functional teams.
