Embedded Systems Engineer
CAMDEN NJ | Defense - Aerospace | Posted: 2 days ago |
Job Description:
Our customer is executing classified defense programs focused on building secure military technology for U.S. national security initiatives. This team builds and tests embedded software/firmware used inside military radios, radar systems, tactical communication systems, and other secure defense equipment. They are seeking Embedded Systems Engineers to support hands-on software development, testing, debugging, and hardware integration efforts across multiple long-term defense programs. This is not traditional IT, cloud, or enterprise application development — think engineers supporting software running directly on secure military hardware and communication systems.
Requirements:
• 5+ years of embedded systems engineering, embedded software development, testing, and hardware/software integration within defense electronics, secure communications, radar/sensor or avionics environments.
• Strong C/C++ development background building software for embedded devices, secure communications systems, or defense hardware, with at least 1 year of Rust development experience required.
• Experience testing, debugging, integrating, and validating embedded software running on hardware/devices using Linux, RTOS (real-time operating systems), or similar embedded environments within defense engineering programs.
• Experience working within classified or NSA-compliant/NSA-certified (National Security Agency security standards) engineering environments and secure product development processes within defense programs.
• Active Secret Clearance or above required.
Nice to have:
• VHDL (hardware programming language) and/or FPGA (programmable hardware/chip) experience supporting software/hardware integration within defense systems.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain embedded software used within military radios, radar systems, cryptographic systems, tactical communication systems, and secure defense hardware.
• Test, debug, troubleshoot, and integrate software running on embedded hardware/devices within classified and NSA-compliant defense engineering environments.
• Support software validation, system integration, and secure product development activities across defense engineering programs.
• Collaborate with software, systems, FPGA, and hardware engineering teams supporting secure communications and defense technologies.
• Analyze and resolve software/hardware integration and performance issues impacting embedded defense systems.
• Support technical documentation, testing procedures, and engineering deliverables required for defense program certification and product releases.
