Job Description:
Innovien is seeking an experienced Thermal Analyst to join our Flight Sciences team supporting the missile program. As the program moves into major design reviews and testing, the team is expanding to support increased engineering analysis efforts. This role supports cross-functional engineering teams by determining whether the missile’s internal electronic equipment can safely withstand the extreme temperatures experienced during launch and flight. Working independently, the Thermal Analyst will gather design inputs from cross-functional engineering teams, build and execute thermal models in Siemens NX, analyze the results, and deliver clear recommendations that help guide design and testing decisions. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys owning complex thermal analyses from start to finish while partnering with engineering teams to support critical design decisions.
Requirements:
4-8 years performing thermal analysis on aerospace hardware, with payload or spacecraft/missile box-level thermal experience preferred
Hands-on experience building thermal models from scratch in Siemens NX Space Systems Thermal to analyze component-level heating and survivability
Ability to independently gather design inputs from cross-functional engineering teams (design, stress, power) to plan and execute thermal analyses
Experience interpreting thermal simulation results and communicating findings through clear engineering reports and recommendations
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or related Engineering field
Nice to have:
Scripting experience in MATLAB or Python for automating model setup on large cases and post-processing results
Experience analyzing short-duration, high-intensity thermal environments such as silo egress or aero heating soak
Background on launch vehicle, missile, or spacecraft payload programs
Responsibilities:
Gather design inputs from mechanical, stress, and power engineering teams to prepare and complete assigned thermal analyses.
Build thermal models from scratch in Siemens NX Space Systems Thermal by defining heat loads, material properties, contacts, and boundary conditions needed to accurately simulate how components perform during launch and flight.
Analyze thermal conditions and provide the resulting environments (e.g. junction temperatures, surrounding heat sources) to component engineering teams for use in their own survivability analysis.
Analyze results to determine component survivability and identify potential failure risks.
Write clear, defensible analysis reports with recommendations for the team.
