Job Description:
If you’ve got Niagara N4 in your toolkit, you already know how rare that skill set is and how much buildings depend on people who actually understand the platform, not just the panels. This critical role offers a mix of preventative maintenance and service on existing Niagara systems plus opportunities to install and commission new ones. You will be interfacing professionally with commercial building customers and contractors, programs and installs BAS and DDC (Direct Digital Control) control systems, and perform scheduled and routine maintenance on BAS components, including front-end systems, DDC controllers, and end devices. On a day-to-day basis you will respond to service calls, troubleshoot and repair control systems and connected devices, back up controller programs and BAS computers/servers, and use maintenance software to document services and manage work orders. This role provides steady, well-resourced work without getting stuck doing the same checklist every day. Requirements:
5–10 years of experience in building automation systems / controls, with direct hands-on experience with Tridium Niagara AX and/or N4
Niagara N4 Certification required (Tridium Certified)
Experience diagnosing, programming, and maintaining HVAC systems, mechanical equipment (chillers, AHUs, boilers), and DDC/BAS control sequences using Niagara N4
Experience with BACnet, LON, and/or Modbus protocols and network troubleshooting
Ability to read control drawings, wiring diagrams, and points/sequence documentation
Experience with both preventative maintenance/service and new install/commissioning work
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to multiple client sites as needed
Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer-service skills
Ability to work independently and manage time across multiple sites/priorities
Nice to have:
Additional manufacturer certifications (e.g., Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Distech, KMC, etc.)
Experience with energy management, fault detection/diagnostics (FDD), or analytics platforms
Journeyman electrician license or equivalent low-voltage/controls license (where required by jurisdiction)
Prior experience in a facilities services or mechanical contracting environment
Responsibilities:
Perform routine and preventative maintenance on Niagara-based automation systems (JACE controllers, supervisors, field controllers)
Troubleshoot and repair BAS hardware and software issues, including network/communication faults (BACnet, LON, Modbus)
Install and commission new Niagara-based systems and points as needed, including JACE setup, device integration, graphics, and programming
Perform system backups, software updates/patches, and station configuration
Calibrate and verify sensors, actuators, dampers, valves, and other field devices
Read and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings, sequences of operation, and points lists
Program and edit Niagara logic (programs, schedules, alarms, graphics) to support client needs and energy optimization
Respond to service calls and emergency work orders in a timely manner
Document work performed, update as-built drawings/graphics, and maintain accurate service records
Communicate with clients, engineers, and project managers regarding system status and recommendations
